About
I received my bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Riverside. In 2016, I became a California Institute of Regenerative Medicine scholar through the San Francisco State University master’s to PhD Bridges program in cell and molecular biology. For my master’s thesis I was a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Francisco, in the labs of Dr. Susan Fisher and Dr. Joshua Robinson, where I investigated the impact of exposure to environmental toxins on human pregnancy.
Today, I am a Ph.D. candidate at Stanford University’s Institute for Stem Cell Biology and
Regenerative Medicine in Dr. Vittorio Sebastiano’s lab. My dissertation focuses on identifying
the cells that build the human placenta, called trophoblast stem cells (TSCs). I seek to repurpose
knowledge of TSC biology to developing a tool for high-throughput chemical induction of TSC
from naïve pluripotent stem cells. Her findings will contribute to future therapeutics to reduce
adverse pregnancy outcomes.
